The England Lionesses Euro 2022 victory sparks pride among accountants for the achievements of the nations’ most famous trainee accountant, team captain Leah Williamson.
Leah began studying for her AAT qualification through the Football Association shortly after the team came fourth in the 2019 World Cup. The England captain spoke with City.A.M in 2020 about her accountancy studies, stating that AAT is preparation for life after her playing days, or as an “insurance policy” should injury strike.
Being a crucial figure within the English national team, Leah demonstrates transferrable accounting skills such as assessing risks, strong communication, acting swiftly to lessen impact and keeping their eye on the ball!
Leah is not the only professional footballer studying for an accountancy technician qualification. Other include Aberdeen’s striker Sam Cosgrove, Hereford attacker Reece Styche and Cambridge City Ladies Rebecca Fay.
And you thought accountants were boring!
